KAMALPUR, Jan 25 (TIWN): A popular saying claimed “All’s well that ends wellâ€. And the saying brought irony for the Netaji birthday celebration at Kamalpur as it failed to end well on 23rd Jan.
The glitch which restrained the end of the celebration to be well enough occurred as the administrative top boss made a controversial and shameful folly during the celebration.
SDM Subhasis Das, while delivering his speech after paying floral tribute to the leader and freedom fighter, demanded Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose as “dead long ago”. And this created much controversy among the locales.
Like the previous 2015, the Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat arranged for the celebration of the birthday of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose with co-operation from the sub-divisional administration and Inspector of Schools.
A huge rally with the representatives and officials as well as students of different schools and commoners roamed the town colourfully. The rally was decorated with placards, festoons, tableaux. The students also presented themselves in colours and dresses to show the diversified ethnicity and culture of our country. After the rally roamed the town all gathered at the Netaji statue at Netaji corner.
There, different dignitaries like MLA Anjan Das, Nagar Chairperson Subrata Bhattacharjee, Vice Chairperson Khana Das, SDM Subhasis Das and commoners paid floral tributes to the freedom fighter. Then the dignitaries delivered short speeches on the life and works of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
While delivering his speech, the SDM told “Netaji remained popular enough even after his death long long ago……….” This remark of the SDM created much controversy. The Indian Government not became able to declare the exact date of death of Netaji even after the declassification of the secret files.
And so the status of his passing away still remained unresolved. But, how the SDM could claim the great hero and the leader like Netaji as dead aroused the controversy. Again, the SDM not tried to rectify his folly till now. Hence, the responsibility of the SDM came under the scanner of public unrest.
