TIWN

UDAIPUR, Jan 24 (TIWN): In a bizarre incident, a 27-year old boy lost his life in a road mishap on Saturday early morning near Udaipur Palatana Plant Project.

Reportedly, the incident took place when the deceased Saikat Das (27) was on his way to home at Purbo Mirja under Kakrabon Police Station.

However, finding his body laying on the roads the locals took him to the Kakrabon Hospital. After a preliminary treatment the doctors declared him dead.

Getting alarm about the incident police rushed to the spot and investigated the area.

However, it has been mentioned that the deceased was employed in Axis Bank and son of Arun Das.

It has been alleged that the incident has occurred as construction is going on the road.

However, he was also an active member of SFI. After his death his body was brought to SFI office and the other members had paid tribute to him.

According to some locals, the traffic rules must be strengthened and more officials must be deployed in the major parts of the roads. As there are drivers who break the traffic rules while they cross the traffic zone of the capital as there is no strict vigilance in the roads of the interior.

Though during the road safety weeks various awareness camps are being organized to curb down the number of road accidents, where the people are urged to avoid over taking and reckless driving but a section of drivers of the passenger vehicle are least bothered.

Most footpaths in the city have shed their topping and pedestrians have to be extra cautious while encountering the bumpy skeletal trails now. The roads are no better either since the topping that were given less than a year ago have developed into potholes, said locals.

Besides, allegation has been raised that roads and footpaths across the state are in a deplorable condition for prolonged days.
