Golden girl of Tripura received Vidya Sagar Socio-cultural award

AGARTALA, Jan 22 (TIWN): Department of Welfare of OBCs on Friday organized a distribution programme of Dr. B. R Ambedkar Memorial Awards at Muktadhara Auditorium.

During the programme, Dipa Karmakar, Agni Kumar Acharjee and Haradhan Debnath were awarded with Vidya Sagar Sociocultural Award. Similarly, Arijit Debnath, Arindam Bhownik and Pritam Debnth were awarded with Dr. B. R Ambedkr Swarnapadak, 2015.

Besides, a total of 437 students of Madyamik and Higher Secondary level under Sadar sub-division were awarded with Dr. D.R Ambedkar Memorial Award.

Mentioning about the number of OBC students of Madyamik / H.S (+2 stage) who got first Division in the last final examination in the year 2015 it has been stated that altogether 1463 students got first Division.

Besides, it has been mentioned that altogether 437 number of OBC students of the Sadar Sub-division were awarded. The rates of awards are Rs. 1500 and the amount involved Rs. 6, 55, 500.

Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar April 14, 1891 popularly known as Babasaheb, was an Indian jurist, economist, politician and social reformer who inspired the Modern Buddhist Movement and campaigned against social discrimination against Untouchables (Dalits), while also supporting the rights of women and labour. He was Independent India's first law minister and the principal architect of the Constitution of India.

He took his last breath on December 6, 1956.

To mark the celebration f the birth anniversary of Ambedkar Jayanti an annual festival observed on April 14 to commemorate his memory.

It marks Ambedkar's birthday in 1891 and is a public holiday throughout India.

Minister for the Welfare of OBC Bijita Nath has inaugurated the programme in the presence of other officials.

During the programme, number of students of the concern schools also participated at the programme.
