CPM to focus on strengthening party unity, says Party Secretary Bijan Dhar

AGARTALA, Jan 6 (TIWN): Addressing a Press Conference at the Party Office, CPM Party Secretary Bijan Dhar on Wednesday stated that with an aim to strengthen the party, CPM would focuses to strengthen the unity of Left forces.

Besides, he also mentioned that raising voice against the forge the Left and democratic front to bring about change in the nation.

Speaking at the Press Conference, Dhar said that the party Plenum which was conducted at the sprawling Brigade Parade ground on December 27 stressed on deepening the links with the common mass.

The main point of the discussion at the Salkia plenum was how to handle the growth of the party and to link the common mass.

During the plenum, the party has also discussed about the ways to attract the youth and female to the party.

Detailing about the required majority, Dhar stated that atleast 25 percent female should get in to party in 3 years of tenure. Besides, atleast youth of 20 percent youth must be targeted between the 18- 31years of age, added Dhar.

Mentioning about the discussed initiatives at the plenum, Secretary Bijan Dhar said that the left front have to emerge as a revolutionary party. Besides, to strengthen the unity of Left forces, it should be reached to the common people. Besides, initiatives must be taken against the rising employment and the crime against women.

CPM had discussed the reports submitted at the plenum, to study the impact of neo-liberal policies and the changes that were brought about in the working class, in Indian agriculture and the middle classes, said Dhar.

The last Plenum that the CPI-M held was in December 1978 in Salkia from December 27-31, where the party had underscored the need to expand their political base.

Besides, he also mentioned that CPM was also in the ascendancy as it led three state governments in West Bengal, Kerala and Tripura, and emerged as the strongest Left communist force in the country.
