AGARTALA, Jan 6 (TIWN): With the aim to take a stock of the work progress at Agartala Railway station Transport Minister Manik Dey along with Chief Engineer (Construction), NFR Harpal Singh on Wednesday visited Agartala Railway station. The visit was also accompanied by SDM Manik Lal Das, Transport secretary Samarjit Bhowmik and others. The work has gained momentum and the track laying work is almost completed and the trial run of the engine will be done on January 13. Keeping in mind to roll the engine on the newly converted BG track without any hurdles on January 13 the authority has visited the station. To conduct errors free run of the engine in the newly converted BG track, Minister Manik Dey along with other dignitaries made a visit to the Agartala Railway station. It is to be mentioned here that Manoj Sinha Minister of State for Railways, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Transport Minister Manik Dey to receive the BG engine along with the train coach on January 13 at Agartala Railway station.However, Transport Minister Manik Dey after visiting the Agartala Railway Station assured that the work is underway in full swing and the BG engine will chug into Agartala railway station without any hurdles. Both Minister Manik Dey and Chief Engineer (Construction)-NFR Harpal Singh have expressed satisfaction over the work progress at the Agartala Railway station.

If everything falls in right place, it will be possible to run the passenger train on the given deadline or even much before that. 
The rolling of the engine was successful till Dharmanagar and will be completed once it touches the soil of Agartala. Keeping in mind the roll of the engine upto Agartala January 13 the workers are engaged in completing the work of laying tracks and the other essential works at the Agartala railway station.

After the successful run of the engine upto Agartala, NFR is scheduled to run the ballast train upto Agartala railway station. The NFR is also likely to conduct CRS inspection on the newly converted BG rail track for safety clearance followed by the final run of the BG passenger train in February.

Huge numbers of workers are engaged in the renovation work.

Even though the authorities have focussed their attention in taking up the BG conversion works of the tracks for the time being, they are also concentrating on the ways to meet the future requirements of the platform to provide the best facilities to the people.

In order to make the Agartala Railway Station as perfect station, different works including extension of platforms, creation of new platforms and installation of new BG rail tracks have started.

The facelift is being carried out after the construction of the railway station in Agartala. Along with the BG conversion work the authorities are also concentrating on the issue to set up a modern railway station as it will cater huge number of trains in the state.
