Locals urged for more ticket counters in Srinagar border haat

UDAIPUR, Jan 6 (TIWN): The first inaugurated border haat caters to huge crowd at Srinagar under South Tripura District, but due to delay in providing pass to the consumers created harassment, claimed a local.

Reportedly, huge numbers of crowd get assemble in front of the office at Krishna Nagar Village under Puangbari Rural Development Block on Tuesday. As on every Tuesday the haat is organized.

Therefore to provide the consumer a pass to go to the market, three counters are set up.

According to the locals, the counters for the pass are very less as compared to the around 2000 consumers who visit the haat on everyTuesday.

They complained that as the counters are less the consumers had to wait for long hours. Besides, the consumers also mentioned that as there are people who comes from distance to visit the haat the delay in the pass creates problem.

Therefore, they urged to open more counters for the betterment of the common people.

Srinagar border haat of the state has been established on 37.5 sq meter Bangladesh’s land and 37.5 sq meter land on Indian soil. Altogether 50 persons (25 from India and 25 from Bangladesh) will be allowed to carry out their businesses. In the border haat, altogether 8 market sheds and an official building have been created so far.

It is to be mentioned here that the Srinagar border haat is the second border haat in North-East after Meghalaya. People living within a distance of 5 km along the Indo-Bangla border are allowed to selling goods in the border haat. The facility was opened with an attempt to boost the bilateral trade between India and Bangladesh.
