AGARTALA, Jan 5 (TIWN): As a part of the week long celebration of the Tripura police week-2016, a 10KM run was inaugurated by DGP K.Nagraj on Tuesday at Vivekananda Stadium.

Inaugurating the program of 10 KM run from Vivekananda stadium, DGP K.Nagraj said that running is one of the most important exercises an individual can do in order to remain fit, many people think that sports and outdoor activities are only in relation with elite sportsman and athletes because its practice requires time and effort but is also essential for the common people.

The police organised a marathon race on Tuesday at Agartala where common people also participated in the run as it was open to general public. The marathon race was of 10 km which was flagged off by the DGP K.Nagraj. Runners completed the marathon in 45 minutes.

The marathon which was conducted by Tripura police throughout was a huge success and was organised under the banner of 10KM run.

Above 100 people participated in the run and it was a successful event in the state organised by the Tripura police unit.

The 10KM run is organised under the banner of the Tripura police week.

It is to be mentioned here that Like every other year the five day long police week began of Sunday at Monoranjan Debbarma memorial stadium.

Police week is celebrated in Tripura from January 3 to 6. To celebrate the success of State police, several programs are organized at Manoranjan Debbarma Memorial Stadium, A.D. nagar.

However, in the week long program the first day was marked with police week parade and inauguration of inter unit sports meet. The rest of the day of the week  includes a  friendly hockey match, arts and handicrafts exhibition, 10 KM run, quiz events, seminar on police public co-operation, closing ceremony of inter unit sports meet and debate completion.
