AGARTALA, Jan 4 (TIWN): Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee on Monday remembered former Chief Minister of Tripura Late Sudhir Ranjan Majumder at Congress Bhawan.
To mark the day along with the capital other parts of the state also observed the day. The Congress leaders, workers and supporters observed his death anniversary with full dignity in Tripura.
As part of the state-wide observance, Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) leaders and workers on Monday paid floral tribute to the memory of former chief minister at Congress Bhavan in Agartala.
During the programme, Tripura Pradesh Congress Bhawan President Birajit Sinha, MLA Ashish Saha, Advocate Kalyani Roy, Counsellor Ratna Datta and other were present at paid tribute to the former Chief Minister of Tripura Late Sudhir Ranjan Majumder.
On the other hand, all the district level, block level and Panchayat level Congress committees have remembered the former chief minister Late Sudhir Ranjan Majumder with full honour on his death anniversary and paid tribute to his memory.
As a part of the programme, the members has visited the house of the former chief minister Late Sudhir Ranjan Majumder and also paid tribute at the martyr spot of Battala funeral ground.
Late Sudhir Ranjan Majumder was elected as the chief minister of the state when the Congress-Tripura Upajati Juba Samity coalition was in power during 1988 and 1992. He was first elected to the assembly in 1983 from Khayerpur constituency.
He had successfully held the position of opposition leader in the assembly from 1986 to 1988. He became TPCC President in 1988. Besides, he was also the Rajya Sabha MP from 1992 to 1998.
