SWSE organized State Level observation of World Disability Day

AGARTALA, Jan 4 (TIWN): Social Welfare and Social Education Department on Monday organized a State Level observation of World Disability Day at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan.

During the programme a seminar has been organized to discuss about the topic on persons with disabilities act. Another topic that is facilities available for physically challenged persons in Tripura.

 At the programme, the disable children performed cultural activities.

The programme has been inaugurated by Health and Family Welfare Minister Badal Choudhury in the presence of Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Bijita Nath, Chairperson of Tripura Commission for Women Purnima Roy, Special Secretary of Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Chaitanya Murthi and others.

The vital purpose of this day celebration is to improve the understandings of the people worldwide towards the people with disability issues as well as get together to support them to improve their s self-esteem, well-being and rights in the society.

The observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.

Besides, it is mainly observed to increase awareness among the people to help the people with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.

World Disable Day is an international observance promoted by the United Nations since 1992. It is being observed on December 3.

At the programme, it has been mentioned that the programme has been organized with an aim t encourage the disable people and to move ahead in their future.
