AGARTALA, Jan 4 (TIWN): Even in the peak hour of the New Year the flight fare continues to hit the common mass of the State.

Reportedly, the flight fare from Agartala to Kolkata loiters between Rs. 4000 to Rs. 5000.

It is to be mentioned here that the rates of Air Tickets from Kolkata to Delhi and elsewhere is low or average then here in Tripura.

For 45 minutes of journey where the aviation company charges Rs. 4000 to Rs. 5000 from Agartala to Kolkata and vice-versa, the air ticket from Kolkata to Delhi or elsewhere is low comparatively.

Allegation has been raised that the air service providers have hiked the ticket fare by taking the chance of mega block conversion. The consumers also complained that the agencies are taking advantage of the BG Conversion work.

Besides, some of the passengers have alleged that, some travel agencies are continuing their black marketing in the name of group ticket.

They also complained that most of the time the group tickets get cancelled and at the peak hour they have to go for emergency ticket which cost more.

However, allowing the other aviation companies to set their business in the State could have decreased the hike in the Air Tickets, claimed a passenger, said a local.

It is to be mentioned here that many aviation companies are willing to open their branch here in the Capital of Tripura but as they are not getting any proper confirmation, they are unable to set their office.

Though the willing people can use the by-road to go to Kolkata but problems arise with the people who are ill and some who do not have passports.

However, the prolonged rise in the air ticket from Kolkata to Agartala has raised problem for the common mass which includes the middle class families and the students who are studying outside the state.
