AGARTALA, Jan 4 (TIWN): Numbers of hand crafted items have been displayed in the ‘Urban Haat’ at the premises of Purbasha, yet it seems the hand crafted goods fails to cater crowd.
Entrepreneurs from various parts of the state and the employees of the self help group displayed their goods in the stalls.
“We are here from the first day of the inauguration but till day could witnessed any huge crowd, which we use to have in the earlier days”, said a stall holder.
Besides, he also mentioned that earlier the online service was not so popular therefore people use to visit the fair and use to buy goods from the market and the fair but now a day it has decreased.
Today people mostly prefer decorative items from online as they find it reasonable and durable.
Handloom is the oldest industry in the State and the tribal people produce their own clothes with elegant designs, unique colour combinations and lasting texture. The traditional items produced include Risa and Riha.
The stall holders from various self help group and others who has taken part in the fair to sell the hand crafted goods but on the third day of the fair the stall holders are looking dull.
Ethnic groups in Tripura make wide variety of handicraft products using bamboo and cane. Cane and Bamboo occupy a distinctive place in the life of Tripura. Wide variety of wonderful objects is made out of the Cane and Bamboo.
There are some people who visited the fair and buy few items but the enthusiasm like the past years are very less.
The stall holders expressed that it would have glad and profitable if more people would have visited and we could sale more and profited.
“We could hardly make any profit from this crowd”, regretted a local stall holder.
They further expressed that maybe because of the online service in reasonable price is the reason behind the less crowd.
