AGARTALA, Jan 2 (TIWN): A year has been passed by, but uncertainty still looms large over the fate of the 10,323 teachers whose job was terminated because of faulty appointment process based on unconstitutional employment policy of the state govt. With the arrival of 2016, the deadline for the hearing of the 10,323 terminated cases has come much closer. Just counting days are left for deciding the fate of the 10,323 teachers. Counting days are left to decide the fate of the much talked 10,323 terminated teacher’s case in Tripura. Uncertainty looms over the fate of 10, 323 teachers as the next hearing to be done in the mid of January by 13 most probably or on January 17 at the Apex court, said Minister Tapan Chakraborty. Talking to TIWN correspondent Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty said that the decision will be now taken by the Apex court after the hearing in the mid of January. He also said that as per scheduled programme, the case will be placed in the registrar’s bench of the Apex Court. Her further said that the case will be placed before the Apex court in the mid of January for the next hearing of the case. However, it is to be mentioned here that Gopal Singh, standing counsel of Tripura in the apex court is scheduled to represent the state government.
Uncertainty looms large over the future of 10,323 teachers working in different government schools of Tripura, whose jobs were cancelled by the High Court with effect from December 31, 2014 because of faulty appointment process based on unconstitutional employment policy.
Terming the job as illegal, a division bench of High Court of Tripura headed by Chief Justice Deepak Gupta directed the state government to cancel the jobs of the teachers after December last and by that time to frame an employment policy within two months and appoint new teachers.
It is to be mention here that earlier on May 7, a division bench of the Tripura high court, headed by Chief Justice Deepak Gupta, terminated the jobs of 10,323 teachers, including 1,100 postgraduate, 4,617 graduate and 4,606 undergraduate teachers. The court declared the existing employment policy of the state government, which has been followed since 1980, null and void.
After prolonging for year also the case has not been solved yet. Every time the case has been produced before the court, it gets delayed every time. The delay in the judgement leads to uncertainty over the fate of 10, 323 teachers. Everyone is now looking forward to the decision of the apex court in the mid of January.
