AGARTALA, Dec 29 (TIWN): Just when counting days are left for the New Year celebration, people all across the state are engaged in the preparation to celebrate the day with blast.

Along with the world, Tripura is also enthusiastically preparing for the celebration to welcome the year 2016 with blast.

People were observed busy is buying gifts and greeting for their loved and dear one. Shops are decorated with sparkling papers and colourful lights.

Like other year, people started preparing for exchanging greetings and gifts with each other and share their happiness for the day of New Year. The New Year will be welcome warmly through various programmes.

However, according to the youngsters recently, greeting cards remains no craze for the people anymore. Most of the youngsters prefer sms and sending online greetings to their well wishers and loved one.

Although some people decorate their houses several days before the festival, most people do it on New Year’s Eve. Houses are decorated with colourful lights, decorative items.

Although the celebration on Tripura in not does vast or huge like any other countries but they celebrate the day with enthusiasm.

People prefer to go to picnic to mark the day, organizes get-together in restaurants or houses and enjoys the day.
