CPM holds victory rally at Vivekananda Stadium, CM criticises the central government over allotment of funds to the state

AGARTALA, Dec 23 (TIWN): A massive left front rally followed by mass gathering of more than thousand people from Agartala gathered at Vivekananda stadium on Wednesday to mark the joy of winning the municipal election in the state.

Cadres and followers of the left parties, mainly, gathered in the Vivekananda Stadium from each and every corner of Tripura to mark the victory rally of the ruling party.

Thousands of commoners joined a victory rally followed by gathering at Agartala making it into a huge celebration of the hard earned victory at the closely fought Tripura Municipal Corporation Elections.  Bearers of red flags swarmed the rally coming in from the different part of the city. The rally witnessed high-pitched slogans in support of the left front. Women joined in a large number in the rally which saw determined commoners coming to the road to celebrate what can be touted as enormous victory of the progressive people in the land locked state of Tripura.

The Polit Bureau member of the CPI (M) and the Chief Minister of the state, Manik Sarkar in his prolonged speech appealed to the newly elected member of the municipal election to stand beside the people and asked them to bring development in their own wards and areas.

Addressing the gathering he also said that such a huge vote count shows that development will take a new pace in the state and it’s a historic victory for CPM in the municipal election.

Targeting the newly elected member CM Manik Sarkar said be alert and look for development of the people in the state.  Take the necessary steps for the development and the party is always with you, added Sarkar.

Criticizing the central government he said that every other central launches schemes and projects but while giving money to the state for the implementation of the projects they denies to pay or sometimes pays a minimal amount to the state.  

In presence of left state leaders on the dais, the CPI (M) state secretary Bijan Dhar appealed to the people of Tripura to give the same verdict against the anti-people role of the congress party in every segment of life and to usher votes for them in the next assembly election.

State secretary Bijan Dhar also criticised the allegation raised by the opposition about vote rigging by CPM during the election.

He also said that people at large have reposed their faith on left front in the civic polls. People have democratically rejected the politics of disruption, violence and bandhs. They have voted for development. People have witnessed widespread development in the last years and has accordingly casted their votes in the election.

Claiming to maintain peace and prosperity safely in the hand of the Left Front government, he said the huge numbers of votes shows that the people are keeping their faith attached to the LF government and wants LF to govern the state. However, Power Minister Manik Dey, AMC Mayor Prafullajit Sinha, Deputy Mayor Samar Chakraborty along with other dignitaries remained present in the programme.
