AGARTALA, Dec 23 (TIWN): Almost about one year has passed after the NHM scam, but police is yet failed to arrest the accused doctors alleged of embezzlement of cores of money.Talking to TIWN correspondent, NHM Mission Director Dr. Sandeep N Mahatme said that he has filed FIR against 17 Medical officials but till date no action is taken against the accused. Loopholes in the police investigation is yet successful in saving the prime accused involved in the NHM scam worth an amount of Rs 33 crore of money.NHM Mission Director Dr. Sandeep N Mahatme further said that police is simply silent over the issue and is least bothered to take any action. National Health Mission (NHM) scam at Unakoti District has brought an embarrassment for the Tripura Left front govt. once again. With the filing of FIR against 17 health officials, a new set of curious questions are in the air which deserves persuasive response.It is to be mentioned here that NHM Mission Director Dr. Sandeep N Mahatme has lodged complaint against the doctors but so far no action is taken against the accused. Months back FIR was lodged but so far no action is taken to nab them and the accused are roaming free.Although the department has completed the documentation but police is silent over the issue.

With the delay in the investigation process, question erupts why there is no development brought in the police investigation to the scam? Why are the accused roaming free even after lodging FIR and why is police yet silent about arresting the accused ? However, question also arises who is protecting the accused from going behind the bars.

It is to be mentioned here that case is now completely handed over to the police. But the same police at Unakoti district once refused to take any case against the scam, after the Congress Chief Birajit Sinha demanded for it.

Reportedly, the state government had received complaints of misappropriation of fund during the year 2014, following which the Tripura government has directed State Mission Director of the National Health Mission (NHM) to verify records in view of the alleged embezzlement of funds in the Unakoti district of north Tripura.

It is worthy to mention here that NHM (National Health Mission) Mission Director Dr. Sandeep N Mahatme filed FIR against 17 Medical officials for direct involvement in Rs. 3 crores funds embezzlement in Kailashahar and North Tripura. Dr. Mahatme filed FIR against 17 Doctors, Senior Officials to Addl SP Nabadwip Jamatia.

FIR is filed against 12 Medical officials of North District CMO office and 5 Medical officials of Unakoti District CMO office including Former CMO Unakoti Dr. Dilip Das, Present CMO Dr Alak Dewan, Dr Subhas Barua, Dr. S.N. Chaudhury, Dr. Debashis Talapatra.
