AGARTALA, Dec 20 (TIWN): One the one hand where the construction work for the flyover is underway at Battala, it is seen that over past few month the work is mostly stopped at Fire service area.It is witnessed that only after occupying the broad space of the road at fire service area with the construction materials no work is done so far. The first ever 2-lane flyover in the capital city will lower the traffic jam by at least 40% to 45% and it will make a smooth fast track movement of the vehicles but the period of the construction is creating havoc. The main motive of creating the Fly-Over Bridge is to seek solution to hectic traffic jam at Battala. As day by day the population and the number of vehicles are increasing, the problems arise in traffic system too.The flyover, which would start from Drop Gate (Fire Service office), would touch Fire Brigade Chowmuhani via Battala. A subway of the fly over will be created up to Melarmath. As per the layout of the project, the Banayan tree and the temple at Battala will be remained untouched by the flyover. As it is, of the 2.5KM flyover construction work, not even 500 meter of work is yet complete and the stay order from the court is expected to much delay the construction work in the state. Its almost 8 months that the flyover construction has began in the state, but till today no visible progress is made in the construction work. And shockingly nor even 500 meter of the flyover construction is completed.

Where the flyover is scheduled to end at Fire service it is seen that the work is nearly stooped at the Fire service spot.

However, although the soil test work along with work is completed in all the spots but not much progress is seen in the 2.5 KM flyover construction work especially at Fireservice area. The construction agency is although engaged in the work at Battala spot mainly but hardly any development is noticed at fire service after the successful report of the load test.

Question arise, the way the agency is undertaking the work in the state, will it be possible for them to complete the work in the given duration?

To smooth the traffic movement at Battala, the Left front govt. has taken up an ambitious project of building flyover at the Agartala city. The snail pace of work shows that the half of the construction work for the 2.5KM fly over will not be completed in the 30 months and the much awaited flyover project will further linger in the state.
