Peace cannot be received until and unless hunger, poverty, illiteracy are removed from the state, says CM

AGARTALA, Dec 18 (TIWN): Representing Tripura as a peaceful state where freedom of expression, tranquility is maintained, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said that the world has changed undoubtedly. War is going on everywhere in the world.

Speaking at the three-day long International Seminar on Friday, CM said that aiming to show political and economic hegemony some developed countries try to reveal their power through war.

Focusing on the topic India’s North Eastern Region and Buddhist Heritage- Bridge between South Asia and South East Asia, Sarkar mentioned that Buddhism essence is development of humanism. Besides, he also mentioned that the war is against the tenants of Buddhism.

Peace cannot be received until and unless hunger, poverty, illiteracy are removed, stated CM.

Urging the people to preach the teaching of Buddha to avoid war and clash, he said  that the real teaching of Buddha should be taken to every corner of the world so that they can avoid war and clash in between.

Discussing about the alarming Global Warming, Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thera Member of Parliament of Sri Lanka urged the people to come to renewable energy and to start sustainable agricultural system.

Besides, he also mentioned that this land has many natural resources with which the pollution can be reduced.

Speaking at programme, Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal Ananda Prasad Pokharel extended the Nepal Government’s great success on this seminar.

However, this International Seminar being held in India for the first time and will have eminent participants from Hong Kong, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal as well as several Indian experts are going to speak on the subject.

The programme will conclude on December 20 at Pragna Bhwan.

The event gains immense significance as India has long enunciated ‘Look East Policy’ which in recent times renamed as the ‘Act East Policy’, has gained further importance, reviving hopes of ending the landlocked isolation of the North Eastern States, and in particular opening up the region to the larger South Asian arena.
