AGARTALA, Dec 18 (TIWN): Although police have lodged an FIR against the former CPI-M MLA Manoranjan Acharjee for his alleged involvement in a sexual abuse case of a minor girl, but even after passage of many days police is yet failed to arrest the culprit. It is alleged that only to save him from the legal actions of law police is intentionally delaying the case in the name of so called investigation. Talking to TIWN correspondent, the officer in-charge of Birganj police station on Friday said that they had registered a general diary entry against the accused and are investigating the case. When asked about the progress of the investigation, he further said that “interrogation is underway and actions will be taken accordingly”. He also said that first Acharjee will be called for interrogation and action will be taken according to the law. After months of the scam came into limelight, the main accused former CPI-M MLA Manoranjan Acharjee is yet roaming free and no action is taken against him as per the guidelines of law. Amarpur police have lodged a suo moto case against expelled CPI-M MLA Manoranjan Acharjee with charges of molestation of a minor girl in his party office.

It is to mentioned here that the gruesome incident took place on Nov 27 and intentionally the ruling party’s big heads hush up the matter and remained silent in the issue. Interestingly, the party has not given a chance to Acharjee to clarify his stand on the allegations leveled against him.

Although the Mother of the five and half year old girl has submitted separate written complaint to the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and CPI-M party secretary Bijan Dhar before the election but the party remained silent over the issue. In the letter, her parents alleged that MLA Manoranjan Acharjee had sexually abused their girl who used to visit him quite often.

Although the big heads of the party said that they had conducted a preliminary investigation and found him guilty and accordingly expelled him from the assembly.

Now question arises, whereas the party has expelled him from the assembly why police is silent even after lodging complaint against him. Is it a policy to save him from the legal punishment of the law, question prevails.

It is worthy to mention here that police has lodged complaint against expelled MLA Manoranjan under section 354 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and protection of children from sexual abuse act, but the police is yet to arrest him.

Now time will say what action will be taken against the accused or this case will be dumped under the file in the name of investigation.
