Elected 21 candidates of Udaipur took oath

UDAIPUR, Dec 18 (TIWN): All the 21 elected candidates of Udaipur in the recent Municipal election have taken oath on December 18 at Udaipur Town Hall.

Reportedly, Subrata Deb has taken oath as Chairman and Ranjan Krishna Das as the Vice-Chairman of Udaipur Municipal Council.

It is to be mentioned here that Ranjan Krishna Das who has been elected as Vice Chairman is an advocate by profession. In the last Nagar Panchayat election, he was elected as Vice-Chairman.

The oath has been taken in two sessions. On the first session 21 newly elected members were administered oath by SDM Subhashish Banarjee at Udaipur Town Hall, in the presence of Tourism Minister Ratan Bhowmik.

After the oath, a meeting has been organized where a Chairman and Council Committee of seven members including newly formed Chairman and Vice-Chairman has been formed.

Later in the second session of the oath, the seven members of Chairman and Council Committee were administered oath by DM Sonal Goyel.

In all the 21 seats of the Udaipur Municipal council, Left front has captured in altogether 18 wards and congress has gained the margin by winning in only 3 wards.

In this election, it has been observed that most of the wards were captured by women candidates. A total of ten women candidates were there in the civic polls. Women candidates won ward 1, 2, 4, 12, 13, 16 and 19 except 6, 7 and 8.

Left Front led by the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) on the recent civic poll swept the civic polls across the state, winning 291 among 310 seats all across the State.

Reportedly, among 49 votes altogether 45 seats were captured by Left Front and four are by Congress whereas BJP and others were left with zero votes.

Meanwhile, Congress has somehow managed to capture 13 seats all across the State, Bharatiya Janta Party with 4 and others with 2 seats.

Among all the 886 candidates, including 429 women, from all parties contested the civic polls.
