AGARTALA, Dec 17 (TIWN): With the joint initiatives of the International Buddhist Confederation in collaboration with Asian Confluence (Shilong) and Dhamma Dipa Foundation (Sabroom) to organize three-day long International Seminar on December 18 at Pragna Bhawan.
The programme seminar will be on the topic India’s North Eastern Region and Buddhist Heritage- Bridge between South Asia and South East Asia.
The programme will initiate on December 18 and conclude on December 20 at Pragna Bhwan.
In the scheduled programme Chief Minister Manik Sarkar is expected to remain present as Chief Guest. Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal Ananda Prasad Pokharel and other are expected to remain present.
However, this International Seminar being held in India for the first time and will have eminent participants from Hong Kong, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Bhutan,Nepal as well as several Indian experts is going to speak on the subject.
Te event gains immense significance as India has long enunciated ‘Look East Policy’ which in recent times renamed as the ‘Act East Policy’, has gained further importance, reviving hopes of ending the landlocked isolation of the North Eastern States, and in particular opening up the region to the arger South Asian arena.
However, Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thero member of Parliament of Sri Lanka, H.E. Chuch Phoeurn Secretary of State, Ministry of Fine Arts and Culture, Cambodia and Ambassador Sumith Nakandala, the First Secretary General of BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) is also expected to remain present.
