AGARATALA, Dec 10 (TIWN): Border Security Force (BSF) Tripura frontier Inspector General M.F. Farooqui where claims that the infiltration has came down in State, smuggling is yet continuing in the unfenced areas, said sources.
Altogether around 48 cow theft cases have been registered in the last year, said sources. Besides, it has been mentioned that 12 bikes have been theft and around 15 times the fence has been hatchet.
Reportedly, 98 percent of the border area has been fenced and around 918 metre of the border area has remained unfenced.
Security has been beefed up and the Indo-Bangla international border and was sealed for peaceful conduct of the municipal election on December 9.
Border with Bangladesh has been sealed as Tripura’s 19 municipal bodies including Agartala Municipal Corporation will go to poll on December 9.
Standard security measures have been taken for peaceful conduct of the civic poll. Central paramilitary forces, including CRPF, are patrolling in the constituency areas and BSF is put on maximum alert and the Indo-Bangla international border is sealed.
Security along India Bangladesh border was further tightened and paramilitary troops were on high alert since Tuesday in wake of the municipal election.

However, despite of several initiatives taken by the Border Security Force in the fencing and the non-fencing area, several smuggling cases has been registered but till day no initiatives has been taken to curb the crime, complained the locals.
