KAMALPUR, Dec 8 (TIWN): Mere 24 hours left for tracking people’s mandate in the EVMs. Then the fate of the civic bodies in the State would be decided. However, the results could be known only on 12th December next. In this scenario, the different political parties continued their vigil during the silent campaign period. The leaders and candidates got busy in moving from house to house during nights as a part of last minute effort to secure win. And from many parts of the North, Unakoti and Dhalai districts the allegations of gifts and bribery to the voters to woo them arose.
In most of such cases, the ruling CPI-M came under the allegation. At Kamalpur, CPI-M Sub-divisional Secretary cum MLA Anjan Das got alleged with roaming into the house of voters to influence them. At Kumarghat, CPIM District leader Bijoy Roy and his close aides came under the allegation of threatening and wooing the voters. The opposition parties at Ambassa alleged the CPI-M District Secretary Pankaj Chakraborty and his close aides to influence the voters by unfair means.
The administration however, continued to their assurance to maintain law and order to ensure free and fair election. SDM cum Returning Officer of Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat Mr. Subhasis Das assured that, administration would maintain law and order at any cost. But the open secret traditional party activities of CPI-M, as continued unrestrained in this election too, hardly created opportunity to agree with the administrative demands, according to the political analysts here.
