AGARTALA, Dec 8 (TIWN): Just a day ahead of the Civic Poll, Khowai District Congress Committee on Monday boycotted Khowai Nagar Panchayat election which scheduled to be held on December 9.
Addressing the Press conference at the Congress Bhawan, Opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman criticizes the attack on Congress supporters by Left Front cadres on Monday at Khowai Chingricharra.
Detailing about the incident, Opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman said that the Left Front supporters instigated the attack with sharp weapon.
Reacting on the mute role of the Authority over the attack, the Khowai District Congress Committee boycotted Khowai Nagar Panchayat election scheduled to be held on December 9.
Besides, he also slammed the role of Tripura Police under Manik’s regime saying that the Khowai Police had instantly refused to provide security to the Congress supporters when they went to the police asked for help.
Criticizing the mute spectator role played by the Tripura Police, Opposition leader said that earlier the flags, posters and festoons of the party were destroyed but the police remained silent over the issue. Besides, the party has also placed several complaints to the State Election Commission but till day no actions has been taken.
Criticizing the role the State Election Commission, MLA Ashish Saha said that on one hand the state election commission claims that a party can spend only Rs. 10, 000 per candidates during the election campaign, on the other hand, the left front party is spending money with both the hand but till day no action has been taken.
Besides, he also mentioned that the under the Manik’s regime several scam has taken place in the State. He accused Chief Minister Manik Sarkar for remaining a mute spectator to the unrestricted corruption in government departments in the state as he is the kingpin of all corruption.
MLA Ashish Saha alleged that Sarkar and his personal staff used the helicopter for campaigning in Ambassa, Dharmanagar and Kailasahar taking advantage of a central subsidy on Pawan Hans choppers which has charged more than Rs. 10, 000 where the State Election Commission claims that a candidates cannot spend more than Rs. 10, 000 for election campaign.
During the press conference, Spokes person Ashoke Sinha, NSUI President Bapi Das and other leaders were also present.
