AGARTALA, Dec 7 (TIWN): Keeping eye on the ensuing civic poll, polling personnel were provided with all the required election items on Monday at the Umakanta Academy.
Huge crowd has been observed at the ground of Umakanta Academy with a purpose to collect the required election items.
Reportedly, the Electoral Voting Machines will be deployed among the polling personnel on December 8.
However, accordingly the polling personnel will leave for the polling booths on December 8.
It has been mentioned that the sealing of the EVMs has been done on December 2 in the presence of representatives of different political parties and delegates.
So far the testing of EVMs has been completed.
However, all the political have completed their campaigning within Monday. Therefore, the since Monday morning all the political parties are enthusiastically holding rallies and addressing the mass urging for votes.
In order to add colours and enthusiasm in the rallies, the political parties are conducting rallies headed by bike riders and scooty riders. Besides, they are also playing songs in support of the concern party.
However, to ensure greater transparency and avoid confusion in the minds of voters, the Election Commission has decided that electronic voting machines (EVMs) would henceforth display images of the contestants along with their names and party symbols.
The new system would help the voters to avoid confusion about the concern candidates and would also help the voters to easily indentify the candidate. It has been implemented from the last Bi-election.
According to the poll panel notification, the implementation of new system is compulsory. The photograph of the concern candidates should be of stamp size with white or off-white background. The photo in colour or black and white is acceptable from the concern candidate.
In order to ensure, peaceful and secure election troops of TSR and police personnel has been intensified all across the state. Besides, the Border Security Force has been instructed to keep strict vigilance in the border areas.
It is to be mentioned here that the election campaign will be over by 5 pm in the evening on Monday.
Reportedly, for 291 seats in the upcoming municipal election, altogether 657 polling booths were set up. Besides, the total number of Candidates are 886, among them 272 candidates are of Congress, 273 are of Left Front and 255 candidates are of BJP.
A total of six candidates each are contesting election from Forward bloc, RSP and CPI. Apart from this, for the Municipal election 32 candidates are contesting from Trinamool Congress Party, one from CPI-ML, Amra Bangali- 17 and five candidates from Tripura People’s Party.
