AGARTALA, Dec 7 (TIWN): Once the Broad Gauge (BG) railway service begins in the land locked state, the Import-Export business will certainly get a boost in Tripura. It is expected that the railway connectivity with Tripura will benefit local traders and businessmen who can use it for export and import. The BG rail connectivity will bring down transportation costs of export import goods. It will not only benefit the business but also contribute to the overall growth of the region. Railway transport occupies a significant role in the transport system of a country because the development of trade, industry and commerce of a state largely depends on the development of railways and also it also boosts the transport of bulky goods which are not easily transported through motor vehicles. It’s a quick and more regular form of transport because it helps in the transportation of goods with speed and certainly will give a hike to the import export business in the state. The railway service will also help in the industrialization process of a state by easy transportation of coal and raw-materials at a cheaper rate.Apart the railway service will also helps in the quick movement of goods from one place to another at the time of emergencies like famines and scarcity.

However, it is to be mentioned here that with the aim to connect the landlocked Tripura by March 2016, BG conversion work is going on in full swing at Agartala railway station and other spots.

The workers are leaving no stones unturned to complete the conversion work in the given deadline.

Days are not so far when after the BG (Broad gauge) conversion work, Agartala will also be connected with by BG track with country’s railway network.

The pace of the conversion work shows that Agartala will soon be connected with the BG track to bring in sync with the rest of the country.

With the introduction of the BG facility, one could return from Guwahati to Agartala, capital town of the landlocked State –Tripura in a journey spanning around eight hours and if things fall in place, the ongoing work of BG conversion work from Lumding to Agartala via Badarpur would be completed shortly.

With the everyday progress in the conversion work, the common mass of the state is observing a ray of hope for faster communication and transportation by March 2016.
