AGARTALA, Dec 6 (TIWN): As per the order of the State electoral officials electioneering by all contesting parties should end 48 hours prior to poll day, this also includes candidates' appealing through SMSes and tele-calling.Taking a stern view towards the ongoing campaign in the municipal election segments for polls chief electoral officer said that if any candidate is found campaigning during those crucial 48 hours, action would be taken for violating the code of conduct. He said that those sending letters to citizens asking to vote in their favour 48 hours prior to election will also be taken to task.Violation of any order, if found, would be checked and punished.The returning officers and officials in charge will slap notices on campaigning and SMSes done in the said period and the expenses would be added to the candidates' or the related party's account. The commission will keep strict vigilance during those hours.In order to ensure free and fair civic elections in Tripura, police geared up to strengthen the security arrangements for the municipal election which is scheduled to be held on December 9.It is to be mention here that apart from the deployment of 15 companies of Central Para Military Forces (CPMF) for election duties, altogether 2,520 additional TSR jawans would be deployed in different police stations and police outposts to conduct safe and smooth conduct of the municipal election.
Bike rally, foot march, miking, distribution of pamphlets, posters, banners, flags and festoon have simply gained momentum just few hours ahead of the municipal election in the state.
With just counting days left for the Municipal election which is slated to be conducted on December 9 political parties arecampaigning with full efforts to sweep in the election.
None of the political parties are willing to miss a scope to promote their party candidates to the people ahead of municipal election.
Left front, Congress, BJP all the party has simply geared up for the election campaign to woo the voters ahead of municipal election.
Even The political party leaders including Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman, BJP state president Sudindra Das Gupta have also joined the election campaign in support of their party and trying hard to woo the voters.
However, the Municipal election will held on December 9 and the counting will be conducted on December 12.
State chief election commissioner told reporters here that counting of votes for 5 lakhs, 37 thousand, and 986 voters would take place onDecember 12. Among them 2 lakhs, 69 thousands and 214 are male voters and 2 lakhs, 68 thousands and 754 are female voters.
