KAMALPUR, Dec 4 (TIWN): After the tragic and untimely death of 10 years’ old school-boy Abhik Ghosh alias Sagar, the local people blocked the Fulchari-Mayachari road this morning. Demanding early steps to curb the high speed of the vehicles on this narrow road, the youths of the locality blocked the road on 9-30 am this morning. Receiving the news, police from Kamalpur police station rushed to the spot and discussed with the people. They requested the people to withdraw the blockade. But they demanded assurance from SDM.

Meanwhile, OC Swapan Dasgupta rushed to the spot and assured of some remedies but failed to withdraw the blockade. Then the SDM Subhasis Das reached there. He talked with the agitators and assured to adopt some remedies like putting humps or dividers. Besides he also indicated to arrange some awareness programs. The SDM also assured to adopt some permanent steps after completion of the road-side drains.

Then the blockade ended around 11-30 am. The locales also expressed their discontent on the failure of police in nabbing the driver of the vehicle which snatched the life of Abhik.
