AGARTALA, Dec 1 (TIWN): The prime accused Naresh Chakma who was sent to three days of police remand by a local court on Sunday, police continue interrogation to nab if any other culprits are engage in the business.
Reportedly, acting on a tip off, East police personnel on Saturday arrested one man with 9mm pistol from him at College Tilla area.
The arrested Naresh Chandra Chakma is a resident of Natun Bazaar. It is learnt that arrested naresh was moving with 9mm pistol loaded with round of bullets confirmed east police personnel.
Police have seized his gun and some cash he was carrying along.
In one of the biggest recovery of firearms ahead of the municipal elections, triggered resentment among the people of the state.
On the basis of the secret source, the police arrested Naresh Chandra Chakma from college tilla.
Police confirmed that, just ahead of the election Naresh bought it for sale which triggered resentment in the state.
The arrest was made when a police officer spotted Naresh with a gun at college tilla. To thwart any move by people with criminal background to disrupt peace or poll-related activities, police have arrested the accused on Saturday.
However, police is suspecting that there are many other associates with him. It was also informed, earlier he was also arrested in allegation of arms dealing. After hearing the accused was sent to three days of police remand and the accused will be produced before the court on Tuesday next.
It is to be mention here that, earlier he was also arrested in allegation of arms dealing. After hearing court has sent him to three-day remand. He will be interrogated at Special Branch cell. The accused will be again produce before the court on Tuesday.
