KAMALPUR, Nov 29 (TIWN): In a sensational event on the eve of vote, thieves broke into three shops and looted materials and cash worth lakhs of rupees last night here at Kamalpur. Police though registered case but failed to find any clue yet.
According to the shopkeepers and locales, the incident took place sometime last night. This morning when the shopkeepers came to their respective shops found the locks broken and the materials and cash looted. The thieves took away approximately 170 kg worth 2, 00, 000 of rupees of copper from the battery repairing and binding shop of Pranab Das adjacent to K.C. Girls’ Class XII School. From another battery shop of Tapan Debnath of Old Motor stand road 30kg copper worth 40, 000 of rupees were looted along with cash amount of 4, 000 rupees. And the thieves first broke into the shop of mechanic Nripesh Sutradhar and stole a lever using which the locks of the shops of Tapan and Pranab were broken.
Now resentment brewed among commoners as police claimed to have strict vigil in the area round the clock. Further, it got speculated that, the incident got conducted probably by the buyers of old and unused metals who gathered here from outside the state.
