RMSA Scam: Fraudster Rajiv Dasgupta sent for 14 days of Jail Custody

AGARTALA, November 27 (TIWN): With aim to crack the solve the RMSA Scam, Fraudster Rajiv Dasgupta involved in the multicrore scam of Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan has been sent for 14 days of Jail custody for further investigation.

Earlier Rajiv Dasgupta was sent for three days of jail custody.

Fraudster Rajiv Dasgupta has been arrested with an accusation of arranging a false mark sheet as well as a computer operator certificate for the accused cashier Arnab Chakraborty. Arnab Chakraborty, who has used the documents to get a Government Job.

 It is to be mentioned here that after the death of Arnab’s father he got the job through die-in-harness consideration, apart from the backing of a Minister. But in order to acquire this job, a Madhyamik Certificate was an absolute necessity. Arnab had no such certificate. In the meantime, he came in contact with another fraudster Rajiv Dasgupta. With the help of Rajiv, he arranged a false marksheet as well as a computer operator certificate. It also came under notice that with the help of his relative he also got the certificate by local MLA. However, Arnab Chakraborty did not have minimum qualification for the aforesaid post.

In every step, Rajiv Dasgupta extended his helping hands towards Arnab. Besides, it has been revealed that Rajiv Dasgupta had looted 33 lakhs rupees in 9 months from 4 banks. But he had paid the income tax of only Rs 1200.

In the meantime, another accused Binoy Das had helped Arnab and his wife Sangeeta to flee away to Kolkata.

Earlier Joint Director of School Education and Additional State Mission Director (ASMD) of Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksa Abhiyan (RMSA), Manabendra Chakraborty lodged an FIR (File no-F.18(2)-DSE/CELL/2013) against cashier Arnab Chakraborty where he was accused of making forgery of the signs of ASMD to withdraw money. He is also charged for issuing an appropriation letter demanding authority of receiving all the cheques and payments of RMSA. The authority of Tripura State Co-operative Bank could guesstimate the wrongdoings and accordingly they contacted the Director of RMSA.

In order to show the proof, the bank officials produced copy of bearer cheque in the name of Arnab Chakraborty (bearing No.01756) against which Rs. 11 lakhs 72 thousand was drawn by him on last September 3.
