AGARTALA, Nov 25 (TIWN): Bangladesh Submarine Cables Company Limited (BSCCL) is going to export 10Gbps of bandwidth to Tripura, the North-Eastern state of India, from December 1, 2015. The infrastructure at Agartala in Indian point on November 14, 2015 for exporting the bandwidth. But, the Indian side delayed to complete its preparation to import the bandwidth due to poor consumption of bandwidth there, the official said.

“Tripura has a capacity to consume only 3gbps-4gbps,” the official said quoting its Indian counterpart.
The BSCCL was set to export bandwidth on September 22, 2015 but it was delayed due to reluctant from the Indian side, he added.
Earlier, the BSCCL agreed to compensate the Indian authority if any disruption is caused in exporting at least 99.97 percent of total bandwidth services.
The BSCCL will earn $100,000 per month from bandwidth export. The company is likely to sign three separate deals with Telecom Italia Sparkle and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone to export another 60 gigabytes of bandwidth abroad.
The destinations of the bandwidth are Italy, India and France.
By the end of 2016, the domestic bandwidth requirement will be only 90Gbps. Another 110Gbps bandwidth will remain unused.
Bangladesh is going to add 1,300gbps bandwidth in 2016 when the BSCCL will get connected to the SEA-ME-WE-5 cable.
If the country does not export or use the bandwidth, Monwar said, it will be wastage of the internet frequency bytes.
The SEA-ME-WE-4 cable has already spent 10 years of its twenty-year period. It would expire in 2025.
The government approved a proposal to export half of the bandwidth to the north-eastern Indian states and any other country in the region.
