Election campaign gains momentum ahead of civic poll

AGARTALA, Nov 25 (TIWN): Opposition parties BJP and Congress where busy with the door to door campaigning, Left Front is way ahead with the preparation for the civic poll with joy and celebration all across the state.

It seems that the Left Front has already won the election where the opposition party is still continuing with the door to door campaign.

However, to add enthusiasm among the party supporter, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has been scheduled to address the highest number of 12 rallies covering 49 wards of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and rest will be held in Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat areas. 

On November 19 Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has addressed a women rally which was conducted for left front campaign in the city.

Furthermore, Chief Minister has been again scheduled to address his political rallies from November 26 and within the next eleven days he has been scheduled to address 24 rallies.

Party Secretariat member Manik Dey, Tapan Chakraborty and others are also expected to join the campaigning all across the State. Besides, Senior other CPI (M) leaders including party secretary Bijan Dhar, central committee member Gautam Das, Badal Choudhury, former MP Khagen Das, Narayan Kar has been also scheduled to join the campaign.  

While the leaders present in the rally urged for greater unity within the Left parties ahead of the polls, the leaders moved door-to door for promoting themselves to earn votes in the election.

The leaders claimed to serve the interests of the common people, fight communalism and pursue an independent foreign policy. It is for the people to determine what shape the alternative government is to take, urged the leaders while participating in the door to door campaign.

The last date for making nomination was on November 19 and the scrutiny has been done on the following day. Last date for the withdrawal of the nomination was on November 23.

However, the Municipal election will held on December 9 and the counting will be conducted on December 12.
