AGARTALA, Nov 22 (TIWN): Minister of state for railways-Manoj Sigh who was scheduled to arrive in the state for the inspection of the BG conversion work progress in Tripura is cancelled due to his sudden engagement of work with the railway board.

It is to be mentioned here that the Minister of state for railways-Manoj Sigh has cancelled his arrival in the state as he had to attend an emergency meeting with the rail board and as a result he had returned from Silchar after inaugurating the Silchar-Lumbding BG passenger railway service on November 22.

However, to take a note BG conversion work progress in Tripura, Minister of state for railways-Manoj Sigh was scheduled to arrive in the state on Sunday.

The sources also said that during his visit in the State, Minister of State for Railways was scheduled to discuss about the probability to set up Railway Division office at Dharmanagar but the meeting is postponed until his next arrival in the state.

The sources further claimed that, there is no assurance when will he arrive in the state to chair meeting with CM Manik Sarkar and other dignitaries in the state.

However, If everything falls in place trial run can be conducted with railway engine on the newly laid BG track by December end.

So far it is confirmed by the official that BG conversion work will be positively completed by March 2016.

Railway connectivity would be a gift for the land-locked people of this state.

However, it is to be mentioned here that once the trial run of the engine runs successfully, the arrival of BG trains in Tripura will run high.

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is working hard to bring Agartala under the country’s Broad Gauge Network by March 2016. With the introduction of the BG facility, one could return from Guwahati to Agartala, capital town of the landlocked State –Tripura in a journey spanning around eight hours and if things fall in place, the ongoing work of BG conversion work from Lumding to Agartala via Badarpur would be completed shortly.

With the everyday progress in the conversion work, the common mass of the state is observing a ray of hope for faster communication and transportation.
