AGARTALA, Nov 15 (TIWN): The People's Front of Twipra (IPTF) has reiterated its demand for a separate tribal land by the name of 'Twipra Land' here on Sunday at Vivekananda stadium along with mass demonstration staged at Delhi Jantar Mantar. Hundreds of IPTF supporters sat for demonstration in demand for the same, asserting the necessity for the separate land to protect the interests of the tribal’s who are allegedly at the threat of extinction.

Once again IPFT is trying to fan unrest in the State where ‘peace has returned after two decade long insurgency and ethnic turmoil. IPFT which is known as a hardliner party and often blamed for its alleged soft stance on extremist movements is clearly trying to woo the tribal society after years of political isolation.

With the aim to strengthen its demand for a separate land to achieve ‘Twipra-land’ with areas under tribal autonomous district council to protect the rights and identity of Tripura’s tribal population, The Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT), a tribal based party in Tripura has sat for mass demonstration at vivekanando stadium in demand for their separate land.

However, the party representatives are also scheduled to place a deputation to Governor on Sunday.

The party also hold demonstration at Jantar-mantar and demanded for their separate state of Twipra land on Saturday.

According to the party president NC Debbarma he said that the party is not pushing for any irrelevant or unconstitutional demand and the demand for the separate state is lawful. Pressing their demand for separate state, the party has also hold vigorous agitations at Jantar Mantar at Delhi to achieve ‘Twipra-land’ to protect the rights and identity of tribal.

It is to be mentioned here that party would continue to strive for a separate state with areas of the tribal autonomous district council. According to the party it’s important to protect state’s minority tribals and preserve identify.

Reportedly, the party also raised slogan in their demand of separate state ‘Twipra land’ at Jantar Mantar along with the 8 representative’s team of Bodoland, Gorkhaland, Kuki land, bidorbho land, Twipra land along with others staged demonstration at Jantar mantar in demand of separate land.  A total of 6000 supporters participated in the rally.

Addressing the gathering at Jantar Mantar, the two leaders of the IPFT party raised voice in demand of Twipra land and claimed that there demand is lawful for the safety and holding the identity of the tribal’s in the state.

Although the party was scheduled to meet PM Narendra Modi to place their demand, as he was out of India the party members met the other delegates and are hopeful for the fulfilment of the demand.
