AGARTALA, Nov 15 (TIWN): To mark the celebration of World Diabetes Day, Health and Family Welfare Department and All Tripura Diabetic Forum on Saturday organized a rally from the premises of Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan.

The programme has been organized with the theme- Act today to change tomorrow. Besides, an awareness seminar has been organized in order to aware the people about the diabetes.

During the seminar, Diabetes and human rights, diabetes and lifestyle, diabetes and obesity, diabetes in the disadvantaged and the vulnerable, diabetes in children and adolescents were also discussed.

World Diabetes Day (WDD) is celebrated annually on November 14. Led by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), World Diabetes Day was created in 1991 by IDF and the World Health Organisation in response to growing concerns about the escalating health threat posed by diabetes.

World Diabetes Day is celebrated worldwide by the over 230 member associations of the International Diabetes Federation in more than 160 countries and territories, all Member States of the United Nations, as well as by other associations and organizations, companies, healthcare professionals and people living with diabetes and their families.

During the programme, President of ATDF Dr. Sushanta Kumar Sen, Shairman of the Reasearch Committee of ATDF Dr. Pradip Bhaumik, Mission Director of National Health Mission Dr. Sandip Mahatme, Chief Information Commissioner of Tripura Information Commission K.V Sathyanarayan, Director of Health Services Dr T. K Das and others were present at the programme.
