Prostitution Racket: More than 250 police personnel deployed to control the crowd, 34 arrestees produced before the court

AGARTALA, Nov 13 (TIWN): All the 34 accused, arrested from the restaurants of the Adviser Chowmuhani has been produced before the court on Friday.

On the direction of the court, West Police has submitted the reports before the court, prepared during the 5 days of interrogation.

Besides, it has been mentioned that the police also submitted the cameras and the other hard disc seized from one of the restaurants namely ‘Abba’.

Huge crowd has been observed in front of the court. Around 250 police personnel including women police and TSR has been deployed to control the crowd. Tight security arrangements have been made in front of the court.

Every individual over there waiting for the judgment for the accused as among the arrestees some are innocents and went at the restaurants just to have food or to meet their friends over food, said sources.

It is to be mentioned here that altogether 34 including 18 women and 16 men were sent for 5 days of Jail Custody by the Special Court at early morning on November 9.

Two of the minors were sent to Juvinile home.

West Police on November 8 busted a sex racket arresting 34 accused and the owner of the restaurants from the Adviser Choumuhani. The drive has been lead by West Police SP Bijoy Nag, Additional SP of West Police Station Sarmishta Chakraborty along with other officials.

Acting on the tip-off, raid has been conducted on three restaurants- Abba, Samba and Tring. Besdes, acting on the complaints of the residence of the area, the police on Sunday arrested Modan Debbarma, owner of Tring Restaurant, Abhijit Bhattacharjee, owner of Abba Restaurant.

The arrested accused are of 16 – 25 year of age, mostly. The drive has been continuing from 1 pm and ended by 3 pm in the afternoon.

According to the sources report, among all the 18 women only two are found indulge with the illicit trade.

However, people thronged in to the court to hear the judgement for the accused. Meanwhile, the arrestees, who were arrested under the Immoral Traffic Prevention Act, 1986, will file a plea before the court.
