AGARTALA, Nov 8 (TIWN): Sahitya Akademi on Sunday organized ‘Uttarpurba’- a festival of poetry at Agartala Press Club.
The programme has been inaugurated H. Behari Singh, chaired by Brajagopal Ray, General Council member of Sahitya Akademi and others were present at the programme. Tripura HC Justice Subhashis Talapatra was also presented during the programme & delived speech.
During the programme, the dignitaries have discussed about on various literary topic.
The first session has been chaired by Aveek Majumder. Besides, poetry reading has been done of Mangalsingh Hazowary (Bodo), Shefalika Verma (Maithili), Birendrajit Naorem (Manipuri), Bindya Subba (Nepali) and Phani Mohanty (Odia).
However, during second session Krishna Basu has chaired. Prem Gogoi (Assamese), Nabin Malla Boro (Bodo), R. K Bhubonsana (Manipuri), Udai Thulung (Nepali), Aditya Kumar Mandi (Santali) and Aparna Mohanty (Odia) poetry reading was done.
Sahitya Akademi, India's National Academy of Letters dedicated to the promotion of literature in the languages of India. This organization has been founded on March 1954. it is supported by the Indian government and situated at Rabindra Bhavan near Mandi House in Delhi.
Sahitya Akademi organises national and regional workshops and seminars; provides research and travel grants to authors; publishes books and journals, including the Encyclopaedia of Indian Literature.
Sahitya Akademi was constituted by the Government of India by a resolution passed on December 15, 1952. It was formally inaugurated on March 12, 1954. It initially functioned under executive order, but was subsequently registered as a society under the Indian Societies Registration Act, 1860.
