KAMALPUR, Oct 28, (TIWN): The NEC roads on both sides of Kamalpur providing a very easy and time consuming access to North and Unokoti districts with Khowai and Agartala turned into a den of pocketing profits for officials and corrupted contractors. The condition of a wooden bridge on the Halhali-Fatikroy NEC road at Ganganagar under the PWD(R&B) Kumarghat division is left in deplorable condition since years.
For last one year or so, the wooden bridge is hanged with a board of “weak bridge” and renovation works has been held several times. Still numbers of heavy loaded trucks and vehicles used to ply over that bridge every day.
As a result the bridge might collapse any moment causing serious accident. Question arises, why the govt. doesn’t take initiative so that heavy trucks can not ply over the bridges?
