AGARTALA, Oct 26 (TIWN): Although officially the trolley run on Agartala-Kumarghat railway track is conducted successfully, but tension still prevails high with the left out conversion work at around 800 meter of Teliamura area. The local people of Teliamura have stalled the BG conversion work at Teliamura in demand of road over bridge since October 1. Due to the strong confrontation from the side of the villagers BG conversion work could not be taken up at around 800 meter area of Teliamura. If the impasse continues the work will be suffered. It is to be mentioned here that although the trolley runs on the Agartala-Kumarghat railway track is inaugurated successfully but uncertainty still looms large with the stalled BG conversion work at Teliamura along with several spots at Kumarghat and Ambassa. Though the Agartala-Kumarghat railway track is converted to BG track yet huge work is left in the several spots. The crushed stones, which are known as ballast are required to be laid alongside the old meter gauge railway track at Kumarghat- Monu area as these stones are necessary to hold the wooden cross ties in place, which in turn hold the rails in place. Apart, it is also mandatory to look for the concrete construction of tunnel at Ambassa Logtrai area as during the meter gauge railway service most of the times trains were witnessed stalled inside the tunnel for hours due to improper arrangements.

However, the NFR sources confirmed that all these problems will be solved with time but the main barrier in the BG conversion work is the 800 meter of Teliamura area which is stalled by the people in demand of road over bridge since October 1. The sources further confirmed that, if the spot is not cleared the railway BG conversion work might get delayed. It is to be mentioned here that, The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) recently conducted a motor trolley on the newly converted Broad Gauge (BG) track from Agartala to Kumarghat scripting a historic success in executing railway projects.

Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), NFR AS Garud, Chief Engineer (Construction), NFR Harpal Singh and Dy Chief Engineer (Construction) BS Bhaskar witnessed the historic event.

The entire journey was successful barring a halt at Teliamura area where BG conversion work could not be taken up due resistance from local people. They have been demanding a Rail Overhead Bridge (ROB) at Teliamura station for safety of local people.

However, there is no assurance when will this issue at the Teliamura will meet an end but if the situation prevails it will definitely hamper the work progress.

The trial run of the motor trolley run was conducted on the newly converted BG track between Agartala to Kumarghat to check the stability of the track and to begin the journey of the goods trains in the track. However, a total of conversion of 109 km of rail track from Meter Gauge (MG) to Broad Gauge (BG) for the Agartala – Kumarghat railway track is completed and is now ready to run the goods train in the track.

With the everyday progress in the conversion work, the common mass of the state is observing a ray of hope for faster communication and transportation by March 2016.
