AGARTALA, Oct 26 (TIWN): With an aim to make the State green and clean city, an eco-friendly solar rickshaw to be seen in the roads of the State, soon.

The four passenger holder rickshaw has been named Green Ride. The rickshaw made of MS Bar has four solar panels on its roof. Besides, it also has charging facility and has the capacity to run for the whole day after 7 hours of charging.

With the charging facility the rickshaw has the capacity to run during the cloudy days as well.

One more facility which makes it different from the other paddling rickshaw is, the brake facility of the green ride has been fixed with the motor.

Besides, with the 300 watt solar panel the vehicle owner will not only able to run the vehicle on the road but also can utile the solar energy to run light and fan.

It has been mentioned that the eco-friendly solar rickshaw will be available at a rate of Rs. 85, 000. Besides, the solar panel will have warranty of 25 years.

Solar power is a sustainable and viable source of energy. The electricity crisis cannot be solved unless we use non-conventional energy such as solar power in a big way.

However, it is expected that the solar rickshaw also called as Hybrid-rickshaw will help the state to keep the city green and clean.  

The innovative idea is brought by the Ph.D Scholar Saptadip Saha and M. Tech Scholar Gourav Avasti of NIT Agartala.
