AGARTALA, Oct 25 (TIWN): Idols of Goddess Laxmi were staged in various shops of the State; vendors are all set with colourful garlands and crackers.
Like every year this year also a huge crowd has been observed in the market for buying the idol of Goddess Laxmi. Vendors are busy in selling colourful garlands and Puja items.
Various decorative items were hanged in the shops and peoples are buying it with eagerness and joy. Many small traders sit with huge number of the idols nearby roads and foot paths.
Laxmi is considered to be the goddess of fortune and will be worshipped on the full moon of the autumn called Laxmi purnima.
Laxmi Puja is another Bengali festival that is celebrated in every household. Goddess Laxmi, the Goddess of wealth is worshipped just after Durga Puja.
The puja is carried out ceremoniously at every houses, often collectively among neighbours and relatives, as people gather to pray for the goddess blessings.
The rituals are usually done in the evening; the rituals for the occasion are often performed by hired priests or sometimes even by the housewives themselves.
However, the time for the puja varies across the country. Some people celebrate Laxmi puja during Diwali while some people celebrate it after Dusshera. The kojagari Laxmipuja is generally performed by the women.
