AGARTALA, Oct 25 (TIWN): With all arrangements, Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) has finally succeeded to provide shedding free durga puja at Tripura.

 It is to be mentioned here that, In order to make the state load-shedding free during the festival of Durga Puja, Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) had adopted all the necessary arrangements to run the state load-shedding free during the days of festival.

“To ensure uninterrupted power supply during Puja days, Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited had also made arrangements to get 35 MW additional power from one Northeastern states- Meghalaya (35 MW) .

The demand for power during the puja days was 223 MW and however the state had a capacity of 315 MW. However, there was no report of power cut during the days of festivity from anywhere.

There is a plan to supply power in the city uninterruptedly till Laxmi Puja, i.e 26 October in the state. Various kind of maintenance was work were carried out in last one month by TSECL. In substations 17 transformers were replaced and 110 distribution transformers were replaced to ensure shedding free Durga puja.    

The annual four-day festival of “Durga Puja” is always welcome to the tribal and non-tribal people of Tripura. But the state also got respite from load-shedding which has become a way of life for the residents over the past two decades.

However, since the day preceding the formal onset of Durga Puja, there has been no load-shedding. Power supply remained uninterrupted throughout Saptami and Ashtami, the first and second days of the Pujas and also for rest of the days and is expected that power supply will also not be interrupted till Laxmi puja.

It is to be mentioned here that Despite of several tall claims by the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECl), the state has been facing serious load shedding problem due to drop of supply of power within the state but the days of the festival remain shedding free.

The daily life of the citizens in the state has been affected due frequent power cuts, sometimes the power cut enforce for long one hour every day, but in the festival days the citizens were given a sigh of relief from the problems of the power cut in the state.

The joy is, however, transient as darkness will engulf the state again as soon as the festival season will be  over
