Theft and snatching cases goes high in the capital

AGARTALA, Oct 18 (TIWN): On the eve of Durga Puja when the people are busy in Puja preparation, theft and snatching in the capital and in the various parts of the state is on high alert ahead of the Durga Puja.

People where busy in the puja preparation, theft and snatching has gone rampant. Besides, it has been alleged that criminals from neighbouring states sneak into the city during Puja.

Though the team of police personnel have raided several places mostly the shops of the crowded market which includes GB Bazaar, Battala Market and MG Bazaar and ceased huge amount liquors from the shops, thieves are loitering around freely with the aim to steal goods from the houses when the members of the houses are asleep.

The raid has been conducted with an aim to curb the illegal sale of liquors in the market ahead of Durga Puja. During the raid the bottles of illegal liquors are being destroyed.

Besides, people alleged about the illegal drawing of power.

In order to curb illegal activities during the puja tenure, CCTV will be installed at the vital puja pandals to help prevent crime. Plain-clothed policemen will keep an eye on people and any kind of untoward incidents.

Police are also keeping a close watch on anti-social activities at some community youth clubs in the city.

Recently, in another incident a team of Tripura police including DIG (Southern Range) Uttam Kumar Majumder, SP Bijoy Nag, SDPO Sadar Rajendra Datta, OC of East and West police station along with others conducted raid in several shops of MG Bazaar and ceased huge amount liquors from the shops.
