Power Minister Manik Dey assures load shedding free  Durga Puja

Agartala, Oct 18 (TIWN): In order to make the state load-shedding free during the festival of Durga Puja, Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) also geared up with all necessary arrangements to make the state load-shedding free during the days of festival..

“To ensure uninterrupted power supply during Puja days, Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited will arrange 35 MW additional power from one Northeastern states- Meghalaya (35 MW) ”, said Power Minister Manik Dey to reporters at secretariat on Saturday afternoon.

“The demand for power will be around 290 MW - 300 during Puja days. Currently, our own generation stands at 93 MW.  In addition, the state will receive 80 MW from the central pool and 90 MW from Palatana plant. There will be no room for power cut during the days of festivity”, he added.

As per preliminary estimation, the state will not have any shortage of power. Dey informed, “Employees of TSECL will be on duty round the clock during Puja days”. This is an exchange of power agreement with Meghalaya. Reports said in return to the power purchased during the Durga Puja power has to be supplied to these states during Christmas.

“There is a plan to supply power in the city uninterruptedly from October 18 till October 26 next”, the minister  stated. Various kind of maintenance was work carried out in last one month by TSECL. In substations 17 transformer was replaced and 110 distribution transformers was replaced.
