Price hike left the artisan to suffer

AGARTALA, Oct 17 (TIWN): Puja committees where assign clay artisans from West Bengal to shape up the idol of the Goddess Durga, section of clay artisans are being deprived of getting accurate value of their work.

It has been alleged that due to the negligence of the State Government towards the need of the artisans the people are facing trouble.

Besides, they also complained about skyrocketing price of essential commodities in the local markets has left no option for them, rather to face the trouble. Therefore, the clay artisans are facing severe challenges to save their existence.

Getting no other option for their existence, the people started to adopt other profession leaving their ancestral profession.

Clay artisan Raju Bhattacharjee of Fulchari in Kamalpur sub-division expressed resentment over the price hike and the negligence of Government. He said that for prolonged many days we are being facing trouble due to price hike in commodities but till day no initiative has been taken to improve the situation.

He further mentioned that during the entire year they only manage to earn in the months of August, September, October and November. In the market of competition, the local artisans had to leave their inherited art to save their existence.
