AGARTALA, Oct 16 (TIWN): Inaugurating the agricultural exhibition at Indian Council of Agricultural Research ICAR, Union Minister of State for Agriculture Mohanbhai Kalyanjibhai Kundariya at ICAR complex, Lembucherra, on Friday urged the farmers to embrace new technology for better yielding. Farmers have been urged to embrace new and modern agriculture practices to improve productivity and boost income from the venture. Speaking at the exhibition, after assessing the agricultural activities, Union Minister of State for Agriculture Mohanbhai Kalyanjibhai Kundariya said there is a rapid improvement of new technologies in the field of farming and it is vital for the farmers to educate themselves on the new technologies.This will help in increasing their productivity, save energy and time and most importantly help them economically, he added. He further said that if the farmers can accept the coming of new technology and get used to it, agricultural productivity in the State can be abundant and help in economic crisis. He also highlighted the importance of crop diversification stating that various kinds of crops should be planted and farmers should not stick with just cultivating a single crop.
Single crop plantation will eventually aggravate the quality of the soil which will lead to decrease in productivity, while multi crops farming will maintain the quality of the soil, he observed.
He further said that BJP lead central government is always there to safeguard the interest of the farmers and the central government is keen to look forward for the development of the Agriculture sector of the society.
In a visit to the ICAR premises he also inaugurated the All India Coordinated research project (AICRP) on pig at ICAR premises.
Many saplings of plants, piglets, fish fingerling, seeds any many agriculture and fishery related goods were distributed among the farmers.
However, as a part of the program he also released a book written by ICAR joint Director M.Datta.
It is to be mentioned here that Union Minister of State for Agriculture Mohanbhai Kalyanjibhai Kundariya arrived in the state on Fridaymorning at 9.35. Soon after arrival, the Union Minister held a meeting with the state BJP leaders at State guest house Sonartori and discussed on several undergoing project in the state.
Later he also held a meeting with Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in his office at the Civil Secretariat.
On the following day, the Union Minister would offer prayer to Tripureswari temple at Udaipur. While returning to the state capital, he is supposed to make a field visit at Bishalgarh. On October 18, the Union Minister will leave the state for Delhi.
