High Court's slap brings erring Tripura Govt on right track : First TET in Tripura on 21 December

AGARTALA, Oct 16 (TIWN): Tripura govt will hold its first Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) on 21st December and submission of application will begin from today. A notification in this regards has been issued by the Board constituted by the state govt in July. The TET will be conducted in two phases. The first part is for the applicants of primary teachers and the second is for upper primary teachers. The eligible applicants will get the opportunity to answer either in bangle or English. Out of total marks of 150, 90 is the pass mark for both primary and upper primary teachers’ recruitment. As per the notification the questions will be in MCQ pattern. Candidates will get 2 hours 30 minutes to answer questions 150 marks. There will be no negative marks in the TET as announced by the Teacher’s Recruitment Board of Tripura. The board has asked the eligible unemployed youths to apply online from 16th October till 10th November. The board will open 8 centers for holding the exam in 8 district towns namely Agartala, Khowai, Udaipur, Belonia, Sonamura, Kamalpur, Kailashahar and Dharmanagar. On 21st December test for primary teachers will be held from 9.30 am to 12.00 pm the test for the upper primary teachers will take place from 1 pm to 3.30 pm. The five subjects of the first TET as has been fixed are Child Development and teaching method, English, Bengali, Mathematic and Environment.The teachers recruitment policy of state govt (led by earlier Chief Secretary Panda and Education Secreatry Banamali ) was earlier severely criticized by the upper court and 10, 323 teachers appointment was declared illegal by the Tripura High Court on May, 2014 after which the state govt has taken to the Supreme Court for sympathetic consideration.

The Teacher’s Recruitment Board of Tripura has laid down the requisite qualification for the two groups of applicants. For primary teacher’s appointment through TET a candidate must have two years diploma with Madhyamik pass with 45-50% marks and as per NCTE guidelines-2002 two years diploma in elementary education. Candidates have been asked to visit www.trb.tripura.gov.in for all information.
