AGARTALA, Oct 6 (TIWN): Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Tuesday inaugurated a Skill Development Programme (IT related) and hand interacted with the artisans of Tripura JICA Project at Project Management Unit (PMU) of JICA Hatipara.
During the programme, Triphala saplings were planted in front of the PMU building. Besides, two brochures were released.
The brochures include achievement of Tripura JICA project and Skill Development Programme of Tripura JICA Project.
This initiative has been taken with the aim to fulfil the growing need of India for skilled manpower across the sectors and narrow the existing gap between the demand and supply of skills.
While ensuring equitable access to the most disadvantaged, including women; and strive for placement of preferably of the trained youth in gainful wage and self-employment to enable them to contribute to the economic development of the State.
The aims and objectives of the project include restoration of degraded forests and to provide sustainable livelihoods to the forest dependent communities through Joint Forest Management Committees. The Project aims at the double prong strategy of restoration of forests and alleviation of poverty.
