Agartala, Oct 6 (TIWN): An FIR was lodged at Amtali police station against an elected ruling party councilor of Agartala Municipal Corporation. It is alleged that the councilor forcefully took possession of land and demanded Rs 10 lakh from the owner.
Even though initially police was unwilling to register FIR against the influential ruling party women councilor.Later, after pressure from higher ups Amtali police station was forced to take the written complain. The alleged land grabbing councilor is Yamuna Biswas is elected from ward no – 26 of AMC.
It is mentionable here that Ratan Kumar Choudhury and his wife Bani Choudhury resident of Akhaura road purchased the land from Dhanonjoy Sarkar on July 14, 2004. Few days back Bani Choudhury gave advertisement in newspaper for selling the land. On august 30. 2015 the advertisement was published in newspaper. At least 32 buyers contacted Bani choudhury expressed willingness to purchase the land.
All kind of land documents was shown to the willing buyers and all personally visited the land. The sale of land was finalized with one buyer.It is alleged that the local councilor Yamuna Biswas demanded Rs 10 lakh from Bani Choudhury.Otherwise she can not sell the land.Not only that on two or three occasion the councilor sent miscreants and threatened of dire consequences if she does not pay the amount demanded.
On Septemebr 30, 2015 Bani Choudhury and her husband went to their land saw the land was fenced and a hut was constructed. When the AMC councilor was asked about it, she again demanded Rs 10 lakh. All this was mentioned in the written FIR.
