Businessman hits road over water crisis

UDAIPUR, Oct 1 (TIWN): Demanding eradication of drinking water crisis, the businessman of New town area at Udaipur staged a road blockade on Thursday at Udaipur.

The protest continued for more about half an hour demanding proper water supply in the area.

Traffic was thrown out of gear for in the road, disrupting smooth movement of traffic in the area.

A protester alleged that the businessman are facing acute drinking water crisis since last few days in the area said locality. Poor maintenance of pipelines supplying water to the city is largely to be blamed for the acute water crisis, he added. As a matter of fact, they have not been provided with sufficient drinking water during the last one week.

The protesters also alleged that though there pipelines for drinking water, they are getting inadequate and poor quality of drinking water, he said. 

Despite repeated pleas to solve the scarcity of water no initiatives has been taken since days. As a consequence, the businessman organized road blockade and demanded for immediate elimination of drinking water crisis. 

Getting alarm about the road blockade, Udaipur Municipal Council Chairman Monika Das, SDPO Ratan Das, RKPur police official’s reached to the spot and brought the situation under control.

However, getting verbal assurance from Udaipur Municipal Council Chairman Monika Das the business man of the area and withdrew their protest and let the traffic move swiftly.
